Our archives

Education & outreach

The National Archives supports research and learning and can provide guidance and advice on using our collections. We also provide more formal assistance with learning and research.

Group Visits

We are keen to welcome groups who want to learn more about our holdings and engage in research with our collections. Our ability to facilitate group visits is limited and is subject to the availability of staff.

Although we attempt to facilitate visits outside of normal working hours, this is strictly limited and subject to the availability of staff. Normal business hours are 10:00 to 17:00. Group visits facilitated outside of these hours must vacate the building by 19:00.

We will attempt to work with group leaders to develop a programme based around our collections to ensure any visit is made as relevant and interesting as possible.

Facilities: We can accommodate a maximum of 20 individuals in our conference room.

Accessibility: Our reading room and conference room are wheelchair accessible. Access to both areas is by lift.

Tours of the records repository may not be suitable for individuals with mobility issues.
